Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program The Office Depot Foundation gave 300,000 backpacks to deserving children in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico in 2007. Since the program began in 2001, Office Depot has donated nearly 1.5 million backpacks. Partnerships with five national non-profit organizations extended the program's reach. The donations enabled every K-5 student in the New Orleans Recovery School District to start school with a new backpack.
